EUGENE,ORE., NOV.22—FROSH TIES MARK —George Shaw, freshman at University of Oregon, can toss passes as in pose here, but his big job this year has been on interceptions. He’ll try to add Saturday to the 12 nabbed so far to tie national record.(AP WIREPHOTO) ggm51100jnl ‘51
Observation: Elsewhere on this blog there’s another image of a mid-20th-century jumping quarterback.
I am beginning to understand why the completion percentage and passing yardage numbers were so depressed back then.
At some point around the end of the Eisenhower administration some enterprising coach must have decided the passing attack would stand a better chance if the QB would stop jumping around like a damn flea.
I can’t imagine Dan Fouts posing like this. (Masoli, maybe, but he was short.)
